Patient Participation Group

A PPG is a group of people who are patients of the surgery and want to help it work as well as it can for patients, doctors and staff. The NHS requires every practice to have a PPG. The Group supports the Practice to better understand how it can improve the healthcare needs of its registered patients.

The PPG is managed by patients to enhance patient welfare and the experience they have when visiting the practice. Its role is to support the practice in delivering the best support it can for patients, and for patients to be involved with evolving changes to make the practice beneficial to all. The PPG is made up of patients interested in health and healthcare issues, we are interested in looking at ways and means of making a positive contribution to the services and facilities offered by the practice to all its patients.

How does the PPG do that?

• To consult and plan with patients on the facilities and provision of services
• To provide an opportunity of mutual interest between practice staff and patients
• To allow patients to make positive suggestions about the practice
• To develop self-help projects to meet the needs of fellow patients
• To act as a representative group that can be called upon to influence the local provision of health and social care through the Croydon CCG.
