There are certain items that GP's can provide private prescriptions for, but these are not free on the NHS.
A private prescription will be charged at £35.00 for the cost of the prescription, plus there will be a charge at the Pharmacy when the drug is supplied.
These are in line with Public Health England guidelines for private prescribing
Hospital Prescriptions
If you have been seen in a Hospital Outpatient Clinic, or have recently been discharged from hospital, you may be given a Hospital Prescription for new or changed medication.
These prescriptions should either be collected from the main hospital pharmacy,
These prescriptions should not be brought into the surgery to be dealt with unless they are non-urgent changes to medication to be actioned when your next repeat medication is due. We are unable to deal with urgent hospital prescriptions, they should be dealt with whilst you are at the hospital. Thank you for your co-operation.
Emergency Medication Service
Emergency medication service when you run out via NHS 111.
The NHS CPCS (Community Pharmacist Consultation Service) allows patients' access to an emergency supply of medication if they run out when their GP surgery is closed.
